June & July Garden Before Photos and August Afters
August 17, 2021
Since the summer is winding down, I am sharing some of my flowers at mid August.
Above, this old window frame has an attached galvanized window box with Lanai Red Verbenas.
In July, the verbena is in full bloom and has really filled out, filling up the old junky table top.
At planting time, my orange diascias were pretty tiny in the small galvanized buckets. I hung them with flower pot holders from my industrial dolly.
In July, the diascia were so pretty!
Here at the spring planting, my galvanized pot wreath holds a six pack of newly planted pink wax begonias.
In July, the wax begonias have many more leaves and blossoms!
I planted two Lofos vines in this fluted pail. Not one blossom open on planting day.
In July, the Lofos vines are blooming and filling up the obelisk. This is my first time trying this climbing annual vine.
May planting: This laundry tub of salvia, calibrachoa, and sweet potato vine sits above a bed of African marigold bedding plants.
Just look how full the tub was in July, and how the marigolds were filling in the bed.
I added a few mini vista violet star supertunias to this planter for additional purple color.
May planting: the wheelbarrow usually has some nicotiana plants, and this year is no exception. Mexican feather grasses are planted in the center of the nicotiana.
In July, my lawn was so very dry. We were and are in the midst of a drought.
But my plants are blooming and growing thanks to daily watering with weak Miracle Gro.
Here is the same bucket of begonias in July!
Here is a Boston Fern basket in an upcycled bucket hanging on a birdcage stand in May.
The Boston Fern, in July, is much fuller!
These three coleus plants were pretty well established even at planting time.
They have definitely filled out since planting, here in July.
Thanks for visiting!

spectacular! what fertilizer do you use? how often and watering schedule? we are in zone 4b and can't seem to grow flowers like you do except for black-eyed susans which have grown 6 ft tall
ReplyDeleteI use half strength miracle gro almost every time I water the pots. Fertilize weekly for annuals in the ground. Thanks!
