Easy Hobby Lobby Fall Banner AND My Fall Covered Patio Decor
September 20, 2021
I found this cloth blank banner/flag at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas Craft
area. It has a stiff plastic or coated backing. Do you ever
wonder how to decorate these craft blanks?
I will show you how I finished my banner, and then my decorated fall covered patio decor!
I removed the string and dowel from my Hobby Lobby Banner. Next, I
brushed on two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Putty. I think this paint color takes on a burlap look.
I didn't paint the back. Just the front and edges.

I then pulled out a Fall Graphics Stencil from Old Sign Stencils.
I will only be using the taller pumpkin graphic for this project.
I centered the pumpkin on the banner and taped it down with blue painter's tape.
I then pounced on the pumpkin bottom using Decoart Chalky Finish Paint in Heritage. I stenciled the stem and leaf onto the banner with Fusion Mineral Paint in Bayberry. I used a thin bristled stencil brush for the small stencil areas along with blue tape to tape around multicolored areas.
I then grabbed another stencil from last fall from Old Sign Stencils, You Pick Orchard.
I used only "you pick" and "5 cents LB" this time, along with Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash. To seal the paints, I sprayed Dixie Belle Easy Peasy Spray Wax on, waited a about 20 seconds, and wiped it with a fiber rag.
All of the Old Sign Stencils coordinate so well together!
All prices on the Old Sign Stencils's website are listed in Canadian currency. A handy currency conversion link is provided for your convenience.
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I ditched the original string, and opted for jute tied on my dowel.
I hung the fall banner/flag on my Pumpkin Spice Latte Barn Door Sign. (also an Old Sign Stencil)
Now, let's look at the rest of my fall covered patio decor!
Three more of my recent fall projects on the covered patio include, my wooden canister pumpkin, my slatted crate pumpkin, and my leaf stenciled folding chair.
Colorful and fun!
On top of a 20 gallon Redwing crock table sits a fall stenciled fruit crate filled with faux pumpkins, a zinc vase with berries, a vintage orange thermos, and my flannel covered books.
Above the crate, hanging with a magnet, (on steel siding) is my pie tin pumpkin project.
Also, around the 20 gallon crock is a smaller crock with garden hand tools and a wooden daisy, a garden fork, and a grain scoop filled with small pumpkins and a faux plant.
Way over at the left is my pallet wall pumpkin project, with a real pumpkin sitting atop of another crock.
You too CAN create your fall decor from thrift shop finds!
