Goodwill Wooden Hand Jewelry Holder Makeover
September 09, 2021
I recently picked up this wooden hand shaped jewelry holder at a Goodwill
store in the Twin Cities.
It needed a good cleaning AND a makeover.

I removed the old mirror and sanded the glue residue off the hand,
and then cleaned up the holder with hot soapy water and an old rag.
Next, I brushed on two coats of
Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.
I pulled out my
FolkArt Dimensional Stencil Pack. This stencil pack has several fun scrolly designs for smaller
projects.
I chose a fancy fleur de lis stencil and taped it onto the hand with blue
painter's tape. I swirled on the pattern using
Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk.
I then waxed the paint and stencil with a fiber rag and Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear.
The black paint with the white stencil adds a sophisticated, dressy vibe to the jewelry holder. It's perfect for the bedroom vanity or dresser.
My fashion book was upcycled with paint and Dollar Tree rub on transfers in a project HERE.
Pin for later!
