A Garage Sale Utensil Crock & Terracotta Pots Receive A Christmas DIY Makeover

This utensil crock was a $1 find at recent local garage sale.

I gave it a makeover!

After washing it down with hot soapy Dawn Dish Soap and a rag, I filled in the etched word utensils with Elmer's Carpenter's Color Change Wood Filler in Natural and a putty knife.

When the filler was dry, I sanded the surface smooth.

I then spray painted the crock with Krylon Classic White Chalky Spray Paint. I did my spray painting outdoors with an N95 mask.

I also brush painted a couple of newer terracotta pots with Dixie Belle Paint in Drop Cloth.

I then pulled out my Christmas Tag Decor Transfers from Redesign With Prima. This package includes three 6" x 12" sheets of transfer designs for $12.99.

I chose this transfer design for the crock, and cut it out.

I removed the white paper backing, and carefully centered the design before rubbing it on with the enclosed rectangular stick.

I added the jingle bells poinsettia transfer to one of the pots.

I also rubbed on a jute bow transfer on the upper right corner of the crock's larger transfer design.

This pot had a larger rim, so I applied a smaller Christmas postmark transfer to it.

I applied a thin coat of Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Clear to the outsides of the pots/crock.

These painted and decorated pots/crock are perfect filled with a faux Christmas tree or greenery.

I still have quite a few transfers left in this package for other projects!

I actually had three purchases at this garage sale. Two striped pillow covers for $1, that I stenciled HERE.

And a set of three clear bottles in a metal container that I also upcycled with paint and decor transfers HERE.
