I purchased these four red metal buckets at a garage sale this past summer
for $1 each. Since they were already painted and not galvanized, with a
great patina, I have no problem painting and decorating them.
I upcycled one of the buckets already with a rooster decor transfer HERE.

I brushed on one coat of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Latex Paint in Flat Black to save on my more expensive Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar. Although the latex paint is labeled as flat paint, it still has much more of a shine than chalk paint.
Next, I pulled out my Mini Christmas Tree Signs stencil by Old Sign Stencils from last season. I love Donna's Christmas stencil line! I use them over and over on different projects and also mix them together for a whole new look.
If you aren't into Christmas projects quite yet, check out the Old Sign Stencils fun fall stencils HERE.

*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I centered the stencil pattern using a ruler, and taped the stencil onto the bucket with blue painter's tape.
I pounced on the first two script lines of the stencil using Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth.
I chose Dixie Belle's Putty for the three tree names. This photo is a tad blurry, but not the stenciling.
Then, I selected my third Christmas small transfer pack from Maika's Daughters, Holiday Spirit. I am loving these small decor transfer designs from Redesign with Prima! They are perfect for small projects and priced at $12.99 for three 6" x 12" design sheets.
The Holiday Spirit Christmas transfer designs are pretty neutral in color, and will work well with my black bucket and neutral stencil.
I cut out one of the holly designs, and rubbed it on the bucket in the upper left hand side of my stenciling.
I sealed the paint, stenciling and decor transfer using Dixie Belle's Best
Dang Wax in Clear.
Dang Wax in Clear.
I applied the wax with a fiber rag, let it dry, and then wiped off any excess.
I am loving this idea!
The bucket can be filled with small trees and pinecones like this, or with one larger tree, or with any Christmas greenery.
Of course it's too early to decorate for Christmas, but it's not too early for Christmas projects!
I love the combination of the detailed transfer graphics with the bold script stenciling.
Pin for later!
Thanks for visiting!
