Flea Market Vintage Metal Toolbox Makeover
October 10, 2021
I picked up this little vintage metal toolbox at a flea market in
July. I blogged about the toolbox and my other finds HERE.
The toolbox cost me $2.

After giving the toolbox a really good scrubbing with Dawn Dish Soap water and
a rag, and Krud Kutter, I primed the metal toolbox with a coat of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Flat White Primer. A darker primer would have been better but I didn't have any on hand.
I then brushed on two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.
I found that my little Swiss Cross stencil from Maisson de Stencils fit on the ends of the toolbox almost perfectly.
I pounced on the stencil using Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk.
I waxed the toolbox with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear, and a piece of wood-look vinyl flooring was cut to fit the toolbox's bottom.
Not only do I like the look of the vinyl in the toolbox's bottom, the toolbox could now be used on the bathroom vanity for toiletries.
Of course, the toolbox can be used as a plant caddy or container vignette like so.
This was a super easy project!
I used this little Swiss Cross stencil on a wooden planter box a couple of year's ago.
