Garage Sale Pillow Covers Stenciled For Fall
October 02, 2021
I found these 16" x 16" striped pillow covers at a garage sale last weekend
for $1.
They were like new.

I pulled out my Old Sign Stencils pumpkin stencil. (I cut the stencil in two
while stenciling on a chair seat earlier this fall.)
All prices on the Old Sign Stencils's website are listed in Canadian currency. A handy currency conversion link is provided for your convenience.
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I am going to use the taller pumpkin stencil.
I centered the stencil by the pumpkin and not the stencil's edges (since it had been
cut), and taped it on one of the pillow covers with blue painter's
tape. I stuck a piece of cardboard inside the pillow cover to prevent
any paint bleed through of the top layer.
I pounced the pumpkin stencil onto the pillow cover using Waverly Inspirations Chalk Paint in Pumpkin, and I stenciled the stem and leaf with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Kudzu.
I ironed the pillow cover from the backside and from the frontside with parchment paper to set the paint into the fabric. I did not iron directly on the stenciling without parchment paper.
I love the striped pumpkin pillow!
For the other pillow cover, I used a sunflower stencil I found at Michaels.
I pounced on the petals with Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Daisy.
After one coat.
Again, I stenciled on two coats of paint to cover the stripes.
When I stenciled the small areas around the flower center, I taped the edges of the petals so I wouldn't get an brown paint in the petals.
I chose Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Coffee Bean for the flower center.
I ironed this pillow cover from the backside and on the frontside with parchment paper too.
I love how this pillow turned out too!
Pin for later!
