I picked up this small sled at Goodwill recently.
I gave it an easy farmhouse makeover!

After washing it up a bit, I brushed on a couple of coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.
It's crazy how styles come and go. About 25 years ago, I would have wanted the plain oak sled!
I had a Tim Holtz Mini Christmas Layering Stencil from a couple years ago that had several smaller winter/Christmas word stencils.
I pounced on "Snowflake" using Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk.
This miniature set of Holiday Icons Adhesive Stencils from Hobby Lobby is still available even though it has been out for several years.
Only the smallest snowflake fit on the sled's slats. I pounced several on the sled using more of the Raw Silk.
Next, I distressed the sled slat edges with 220 grit sandpaper, drilled two holes in the sled front cross piece, and waxed it with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear.
I put tape on the ends of fine jute, with a gold metallic thread in it, from Michaels. The tape helped thread the jute through the holes I had drilled in the sled's crossbar.
On the right is my gold metallic fine jute twine from Michael's, and on the left is a Target Dollar Spot set of three mini wreath ornaments.
I removed the jute tree hangers on the wreaths and tied two of them together with more jute.
I tied the mini wreath on the sled.
The little bucket of greenery is another Target find.
The sled is also cute horizontally displayed on a table with a mini tree on top.
Easy thrifted Christmas decor with paint and stencils from my stash.
Pin for later!
