I found this decorative wooden toolbox/tote at Goodwill recently.
I cleaned it up with hot soapy Dawn Dish Soap water and a rag.

After the clean up, I brushed on a couple of coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Caviar.
I did not paint the inside of the box that was stained with a black stain.
I then pulled out a new Christmas Vintage Sled Company stencil from Old Sign Stencils that I have been dying to try.

*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
The 12" stencil was a little too big for my toolbox but not to worry, I will make it fit.
I taped the stencil on the front of the toolbox, leaving off the word company and the sled graphic. I then pounced on the word sled and the snowflake graphic with Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk. I used Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Putty to stencil the word vintage.
Here is the stenciled front of the toolbox.
I stenciled the side panels with a vertical sled, also using Putty.
I found this wooden sled at Target, in the Bullseye area, at the front of the store for $3.
I painted the sled with more Dixie Belle Putty paint.
I grabbed the Poinsettia Christmas Sweater Stencil from Old Sign Stencils, that I had used on the Target tiered stand HERE.
I used the bottom of the stencil at the top and the top of the stencil on the bottom of the sled. You will see why in a bit.
I used more Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk.
I distressed the sled's edges lightly with 220 grit sandpaper.
Both the toolbox and the sled were sealed with Dixie Belle Easy Peasy Spray Wax. (It is easy)
Here is my toolbox all painted and stenciled, and filled with the Target sled and faux trees.
Now you can see why I reversed the stencil. So the trees were at the top instead of the poinsettias.
I am very pleased with both pieces!
This is a great stencil! It will work all winter long!
A cute little vignette for a table or shelf.
Pin for later!
Thanks for visiting.
