Upcycled Christmas Target Bullseye Cutting Board Riser & Metal Truck
November 24, 2021
I love rummaging through the Target Bullseye Playground bins at the front of the Target stores, especially at Christmastime. Most of the stuff is under $5.
I picked up this faux cutting board riser recently. I have made a few of these from real thrift shop cutting boards in the past. The target riser is made from MDF with a thin coat of veneer. So it's meant for decorative use only.
I also picked up this small metal white truck in the Target bins.
Both will get Christmas makeovers!

Since the cutting board riser was new, I didn't do any clean up on
the piece. I just brushed on a couple of coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in Bayberry. I love Bayberry for Christmas decorations with a neutral color
palette.
I then pulled out my
Christmas Crates Stencil from Old Sign Stencils. This is a fun stencil from a couple of years ago, that as always,
coordinates with the new Christmas stencil collection from Old Sign
Stencils too.
All prices on the Old Sign Stencils's website are listed in Canadian currency. A handy currency conversion link is provided
for your convenience.
*Old Sign Stencils provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my
own.
I pounced on the stencil's graphics and script portions in sort of a
haphazard way, filling up the cutting board top. I used Dixie Belle Chalk Finish Paint in Drop Cloth for the stencil paint.
I then lightly distressed the edges of the cutting board riser's top with 220 grit sandpaper, and waxed it with Dixie Belle Best Dang Wax in Clear.
I also tied a jute twine string in the cutting board hole.
I picked up this two sheet Tim Holtz Christmas rub on transfer package at Joann Fabrics this week.
I already had these three Redesign With Prima Small Christmas Decor Transfers from Maika's Daughters on hand for other projects.
I rubbed "25's" from the Tim Holtz Remnant Rubs and some smaller Christmas graphics from the Redesign With Prima transfers onto the little truck.
These little bottlebrush trees were also a Target Bullseye Playground find.
Here is one side of my little truck.
And here is the other.
Transfers stick to metal almost instantly, so make sure you have it in place before letting it touch down or you will not be able to move it.
If you can't find items to upcycle as Christmas decor at a thrift shop, you can always upcycle Target and dollar store merchandise.
A snowflake stencil would also be great on the cutting board riser.
Pin for later.
