Dollar Tree Felt Bunny Garland Farmhouse Style Makeover
February 25, 2022
I found this felt bunny garland at Dollar Tree recently in the the Easter section.
The felt was very thin, and the colors were a bit too bright for my style, so I gave it a makeover.

First I cut the ribbon off of the bunnies, and pulled off the pompoms. The pompoms had been glued on, so I had to cut off a few of them.
I laid the bunnies on newspaper and brushed on Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Burlap. Here they are after coat one. They will need another coat, especially the darker felt colored bunnies.
I started out with a sponge brush but later found a chip brush worked better with the felt. I thinned the paint a bit with water and misted my brush with a spray bottle too.
Here are the bunnies after two coats. The chalk paint really stiffened the limp felt fabric. Acrylic paint would stiffen them some too.
Next, I used a handheld hole punch to open up the ribbon holes that were small (and partially painted shut.)
I waxed the bunnies with Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Clear.
I hot glued the pompoms back onto the bunnies, and used jute to connect the bunny garland instead of ribbon.
My bunny garland's neutral hues fit in much better with farmhouse decorating!
Very easy!
Thanks for visiting.
