My Vintage Junk Garden Wheelbarrow From 2012 - 2021
May 09, 2022
One of my favorite junk garden finds of all time has to be this old wheelbarrow. I paid $15 for it at a garage sale.
Through the years, I have changed up the planters and plants a bit, but almost always include nicotiana. Above is my 2021 wheelbarrow with nicotiana, sweet alyssum, and Mexican Feather Grass, also called Ponytail Grass.
In 2020, I planted Prince Tut Grass in the center of my nicotianas. Multicolored verbenas are in a bucket on the right.
In 2019 my old wheelbarrow with a tub of nicotiana and a pail of petunias, diascia, and lobelia.
In 2018 my wheelbarrow's round tub is planted with nicotiana and blue arrows rush. Nicotiana is one of my favorite underused annuals.
The smaller cream separator is planted with two Mandeville Crazytunias and Mysty Blue Salvia.
In 2017 the laundry tubs in my old wheelbarrow include a blue arrows rush (grass), annual phlox, nicotiana, and black eyed Susan vines.
In 2016 my wheelbarrow is an old favorite of mine. It is my very first junk garden piece. The laundry tub is planted with white Margueritte daisies and nicotiana.
In 2015, my nicotiana were joined by annual phlox, verbena, coleus and geraniums.
In 2014, the chippy wheelbarrow with nicotiana, verbena and calibrachoa in tubs.
My 2013 wheelbarrow was spilling with Calibrachoa and nicotiana.
2012's wheelbarrow had pink gaura in the center of the nicotianas.
