My son got a new mailbox and gave me the old black one. It's not super old, but I had an idea I wanted to try.

I pulled out one of my stencils, Old Sign Stencils, Shipping Crate Stamps.

After wiping the mailbox off with an old rag, I tried positioning the stencil on the mailbox.
I started pouncing on some of the stencil graphics using Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk. I ended up pulling out my Funky Junk/Old Sign Stencils Valentine's Crates, and Christmas Crates stencil for additional postage/shipping graphics for my mailbox. All of the Old Sign Stencils coordinate perfectly!
This is an old raisin crate that I purchased at a flea market last summer for $5.
For the crate, I chose the new Pallet Stamps Stencil from Old Sign Stencils. I just got this stencil yesterday.
I swirled on this stencil using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.
I love this new stencil! It looks just like pallet/shipping markings.
I then sprayed the bottom of the crate and the sides of the mailbox with Rustoleum Clear Matte Sealer. I applied two coats.
I used the crate as a plant stand, and the mailbox as a planter! Both are so fun with the shipping style stenciling
A red trailing verbena was staged in the bucket, and a Caliope Red Geranium is in the mailbox.
I love Caliope geraniums. They are a combination of zonal and ivy geraniums. Large blossoms and lots of them.

Hey Carlene, in some of your garden pics I see you have hung things on your house siding. What product do you use for hanging? Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI use nails. Not many. I make everything able to hang on the few nails I have in my steel siding. I usually hang things on wires so I can adjust the height to fit the nail.
DeleteI fully anticipate all mailboxes to promptly disappear from thrift stores because turning it into a flower pot is genius! Adore the enhanced crate riser beside it! Another amazing garden junk upcycle complete!
