June 05, 2022

Planting day in a small garden with marigolds, calendulas, sunflowers, and annual phlox.
My daughter was here over the Memorial weekend to help me with planting.

Read on to see what we planted in the ground and in the pedestal tub.

I purchased this milk can part several years ago at an estate sale.  I have used it along my deck and in the front border with hen and chicks and also annuals.

After washing up the milk can top, I spray painted it with several coats of Krylon Outdoor Decor Spray Paint in Sunflower.

I then pulled out my new stencil from Old Sign Stencils, Farmhouse Quilt.  I love this stencil.  I have also used it on an outdoor bench HERE, and wall bin HERE.

Besides Farmhouse QuiltOld Sign Stencils has several other new pattern stencils including Retro Star, Retro Star LargePenny TileBarn Quilt Star, Pallet Stamps, Stitches, and Cable Knit.  Be sure and check out all of the new stencils!  These pattern stencils can be used on decor pieces AND furniture.

*Old Sign Stencils has provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.

I simply pounced two stars and one quilt block on the front of the milk can top using gray and off white acrylic paint.  I sealed the milk can cover with several coats of Painter's Touch Clear Matte Spray.

The milk can top is planted with a Lady Godiva Orange Calendula.

  1. Carlene, all the various versions of your small garden are so beautiful. You have such a good eye for choosing complimentary plants and arranging them. I loved looking at all of them.
