Container Junk Garden Before and Afters
July 28, 2022
As I am preparing for the 2022 Junk Garden Tour, I thought I would share some container garden closeups before (at planting time) and after (late July).
Like this chippy red wheelbarrow at planting time with a Heliotrope and a Red Calliope Geranium. Read on for more photos.
The chippy wheelbarrow plants are full and lush in late July.
Here is my stepladder (in late May) of container gardens with White Euphorbia in the top container, double red Calibrachoa, and Red Intensia Annual Phlox in bucket at the bottom of ladder.
Here is my ladder in late July.
Here the bin on top of the sawhorse is planted with impatiens and the bucket underneath it has a bright pink ivy geranium (a hanging basket from Menards) in it. Three varieties of coleus are to the right.
The plants have definitely filled out in July.
This is a diplandenia plant. It is in the Mandevilla family. I purchased it in May at Walmart in a basket. It was in full bloom at the time but the cool weather that followed left this tropical plant at a standstill.
Finally in late July, the dipladenia is loaded with blossoms and buds too.
Now for some of the plants on my deck bench. First this yellow lantana at planting time.
Here is the lantana in July.
This mop bucket has another double calibrachoa plant.
Here in the July the calibrachoa has covered the bucket.
This is an Intensia Blueberry Phlox in this galvanized container with a spout.
The phlox is even more beautiful this week in July!
This mop bucket has another lantana, Little Lucky Red.
Here is the lantana's progress in June and July.
Do you remember my stenciled herb stepstool project from early June?
Here in July, the herbs are are filled in.
In mid June I planted and decorated the sink area of the potting bench HERE.
The alyssum, verbena and pink geranium have filled in the sink area almost completely.
Thanks for visiting the junk garden!
