Photos of planting annuals Memorial Day Weekend.
Today I'm sharing some before photos (from Memorial weekend) and after photos (mid July) of some of my junk garden plantings.

Above is my laundry tub pedestal planter, in May, with sunflowers, annual phlox and calendula.

The plant in, and the plants around the milk can, are filling in nicely.

Last year I planted these little buckets on the dolly with orange diascia, but this year I chose Mecardonia.

Here in July the Mercardonia plants and the Lantana topiary are gorgeous.

  1. Carlene, when you use metal buckets and washtubs to plant in do you drill holes in the bottoms or use anything under the soil to aid drainage?

Everything looks lovely in your May to July gardens. I especially like your laundry tub planter on the post and the surrounding plants on the ground. I have an old laundry tub in my garage and can't wait to inlcude it in my plan for my next year's junk garden. I am always inspired by your posts!

    1. Yes holes drilled in the bottoms of the buckets and tubs. They are forever planters! Thanks!

  2. Wow! Everything is so lush and beautiful but that washtub made my jaw drop. It's like the marigolds turned to orange soap suds and went kaboom! Decadent!
