Garage Sale Ice Box End Style Table Upcycle
August 25, 2022
I purchased this oak, ice box style end table for $20 at a garage sale in 2021.
I just gave it a makeover!

First, I took the door off and all of the brass hardware.
Then I scuff sanded the finish just a bit with 220 grit sandpaper, and washed up the end table with hot soapy Dawn Dish Soap water and a rag.
I painted the piece with two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Midnight Sky.
Dixie Belle's website says "Midnight Sky is a dark blue black. You’ll see this calming color when you take a look through a telescope at night. Whether your style is modern or rustic, Midnight Sky will make your space feel more grounded. Use this dramatic color to add dimension to your painted project."
I really like this black and of course Dixie Belle's Caviar as well.
I used a Zibra Paint Brush to brush on the paint.
I chose to not distress the piece at all.
I applied Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Black to the table and door. I used a wax brush and a PFC Paint and Cleaning Rag.
I screwed the brass hardware back onto the table.
I love how this little end table turned out, but decided to use it as a nightstand in one of the bedrooms.
Thanks for visiting!

Carlene, that is gorgeous! I really like the Midnight Sky color. You did a great job and I like that you didn't distress it. I have a piece--a little cupboard--that needs finishing as it's raw wood even after having it for a number of years, I'm thinking I might like it painted with Midnight Sky. Thanks for introducing us to the color.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Naomi! I remember when I kept all the white furniture! I'm loving this color too!
