Goodwill Wooden Suitcase Makeover
October 03, 2022
I found this little wooden decorative suitcase at Goodwill in August.
It was $3.99.

After cleaning it with a hot soapy water and dawn soap rag, I started brushing on a couple coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in Midnight Sky.
Dixie Belle's website says this about Midnight Sky:
Midnight Sky is a dark blue black. You’ll see this calming color when you take a look through a telescope at night. Whether your style is modern or rustic, Midnight Sky will make your space feel more grounded. Use this dramatic color to add dimension to your painted project. This is the perfect furniture paint for chalk painting your furniture, cabinets or any DIY project. Our chalk mineral paint is ideal for wood, metal, plastics, brick, stone, glass, concrete and so much more.
Here is the suitcase after two coats of paint.
Next I brushed Rustoleum Metallic Accents in Soft Gold on the riveted parts of the case. It took two coats.
I browsed through my plastic tote with small Hobby Lobby stencils and found this Fleur de Lis & Ornate Icons stencil.
The design on the left fit the center area of the case perfectly.
I centered (with a ruler) the design on the case top and taped it on using blue painter's tape.
I pounced on the stencil with Fusion Mineral Paint in Raw Silk.
The entire piece was waxed with Dixie Belle's Best Dang Wax in Clear.
I love suitcases. This one wasn't really for clothes. Maybe to hold game pieces or something.
I am working on two more suitcases as well.
I plan to use them in a decor/storage project for my house. I will be sharing that soon.
Thanks for visiting everyone!
Pin for later!
