Blog Projects Decorate My Den/Guest Room
March 10, 2023
Today I'm sharing a large room (16 1/2' x 22 1/2') in my home that is a combination den and guest room.
The room is perfect for visitors with pets or kids as the furniture is older, painted, slipcovered but in pretty decent shape. It's sort of farmhouse style, and is decorated with a lot of my blog projects and vintage thrift store finds.
I recently purchased the 8' x 10' area rug on Wayfair for under $100. It's an indoor/outdoor rug that is easy to clean. It was my first Wayfair order ever!

Most of these wall items were former blog projects including the Antiques ironing board sign with hooks (a popular project on my blog). Also the brown paper Let's Stay Home scroll sign. And the vintage clothes hangers that have been stenciled in a project HERE.
I haven't been able to part with the green child's wooden stenciled Trees chair.
Also on the bench are my black Fresh Produce/check stenciled drawer shelf, and a thrifted herb easel frame HERE.
The queen size bed was painted several years ago using Rustoleum Heirloom White paint.
I designed a Garden Junk iron on transfer for the pillow cover on the bed HERE.
The comforter and shams were Heath and Hand items from Target.
A lot of my vintage collectibles are displayed on shelves here. Many of these items are used in staging for my blog project photos.
I recently painted plain curtain rods in this room with black paint, and hung wide burlap ribbon (available at Hobby Lobby or Walmart) with curtain ring hooks on the windows HERE. This was a super cheap project.
I removed red homespun curtains from the windows, closets, and built ins. I loved red, and still do, but I really like neutrals with pops of red now.
The closet doors and a couple of the bottom built-in cubbies now display no sew drop cloth curtains. I used Heat N Bond Hem Tape to fold the raw edges of fabric under for a hem. The drop cloths were purchased at Menards.
Other built in bottom cubbies have upcycled suitcase storage from a project HERE.
Floral stacking storage boxes received a neutral makeover in a very old blog project HERE.
My chalk and acrylic paint jars and cans are stored in the galvanized pie safe and child's cupboard. (The cupboard was mine as a child).
More of my projects and staging items are stored on the gray shelf unit, including my easel backed grater photo display.
And on top of the shelf, a chair back photo holder. The crate on casters was painted and stenciled in a project HERE.
The black cable knit storage chest from Goodwill was upcycled in a recent blog post HERE. The stool/plant stand received its second makeover in a project HERE.
My file drawer planter project is next to the TV HERE planted with succulents.
I created the checked tea towel sign with a stencil and yardsticks HERE.
I stenciled the live edge cabin sign on a wood burning wood slice in a project HERE.
Under the Surefit two piece stretchy gray cover is an Flexsteel older plaid sofa. The Thornton style sofa frame is still available, but I am long since sick of the fabric.
Colonel Mustard Paint, a fun pallet markings stencil, hair pin legs and a garage sale crate became my coffee table HERE.
A view from one half of the room.
A fun buffalo check/Minnesota framed sign from a previous project HERE.
I hope you enjoyed a tour of my refreshed den/guest room!
Thanks for visiting.

The den refresh is lovely, Carlene! I'd love to sink into that bed and stare at all those wonderful projects and junk supplies! Your desk built-in is a really nice piece too!
