Organized Clutter's 2023 Junk Garden Tour (Pt 1)
August 13, 2023
Welcome to Part One of my 2023 Junk Garden Tour!
This year I divided the tour into wider angle photos (part one) and the close ups (part two). I hope you enjoy the tour!

After 20+ years of a stepladder in the front border, I swapped out the ladder with an 8' bench from the antiques/consignment shop.
On top of the bench are 5 galvanized buckets planted with red calliope geraniums and red calibrachoa.
As usual, my front border is a mix of junk, perennials and annuals. My Asiatic Lilies were an early victim of relentless deer roaming my neighborhood. This end of the border certainly suffered.
I sprayed with three different kinds of repellents and also used granules, and eventually spared most of the flowers. But alas, once the lily buds are chomped off, there will be no blossoms until the next year.
I diagrammed the plants and planting in the border HERE.
This end of the border was both colorful and lush!
Here is the front of my kidney shaped border garden.
The wax begonias in the front row, in full sun, were gorgeous.
This was my first container garden featuring a Kimberly Fern, Angel Wing Begonias and Golden Creeping Jenny.
This Swingtime Fuchsia was an early victim of deer damage but luckily filled in again!
I don't buy hanging baskets very often. I usually create hanging buckets with three 4" annual pots.
The very warm June weather saw these plantings on the front patio quadruple in size.
More front patio photos HERE.
I replaced the laundry tub on a table pedestal planter in this small bed with a stepladder.
My $2.49 Home Depot white seed geraniums really grew, bloomed and spread well.
The dahlias in the tub with coleus were a disappointment.
Under the spruce tree by the deck, I always have begonias, fuchsias and/or impatiens, and this year was no exception.
It's probably time for me to mix it up a bit here. These chicken feeders and milk cans have been here for several years.
I used to plant flowers right in the ground. See previous years HERE.
Not a lot changed at the shed this year. Same signs, same farm junk.
The container gardens held red geraniums.
Red geraniums look great with junk!
Marigolds and lantana on the deck bench.
Junky deck planters!
Succulents were an awesome choice for the mop buckets in the corner of the deck. See the plant listings HERE.
No deadheading and not much watering!
Wax begonias, calibrachoa, and a mix of calibrachoa, petunias and lobelia.
A view from the backyard to the deck.
Adding interest to a long wall of boring siding with cultivators, fence picket, wheels, and other farm implements.
The rusty garden cart at the left was a curbside find HERE.
This crate/birdhouse vignette has been in this spot now for three summers.
A junky shade vignette in the back yard.
Thanks for visiting everybody! I hope you are still enjoying junk gardening and my tours!

ReplyDeleteEverthing is just Beautiful . But how do yo keep it all watered?
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty. Mine was a total bust here in Texas with the heat! Kinda disheartened, but maybe i can find some to grow through fall and winter once it is not an inferno here!
