Junky Pumpkins On The Front Patio
October 03, 2023
I recently decorated my covered patio for fall inspired by old wheels, like this one.

Several faux pumpkin "stems" were cut on a chop saw in various sizes from an old tree branch.
Next, I hot glued ceramic disc magnets to the bottoms of the "stems".
The stems were attached to the wheels with the magnets, so it's just temporary. The wheels will return to my junk gardens next spring.
I then pulled out my "Pumpkins - 25 Cents" stencil from Old Sign Stencils. I used this stencil on a fall sawhorse HERE.
Whenever I need a junky/farmhouse stencil, I visit the Old Sign Stencils website. I love all the stencils, and they all coordinate.
*Old Sign Stencils has provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
I found this old toolbox on an old table holding buckets and pulleys along the house.
I cleaned the toolbox with hot soapy Dawn dish soap water and a rag.
I then taped the stencil to toolbox and swirled on the stencil using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.
I positioned three of the wheels/gears in the toolbox in front of an old wagon wheel.
All the "stems" were tied with raffia.
This old window and fern wreath were already hanging by the door.
I added a small fall wreath right on top of the fern wreath.
The only pops of fall color were the wreath and a small bucket of fall foliage.
I stenciled the crate with another Old Sign Stencil HERE.
Easy and inexpensive fall junk decor!
The wheels are all heavy so they won't blow away!

Carlene, when I first started reading this post and you talked about using old wheels for pumpkins I tho't you were going to paint them orange and looking at the patina on the big wooden one I wanted to say, "Oh, no, don't do that!" Then I gave a sigh of relief when I saw what you actually did! I love the patina on those old wheels and the understated look of what you did with them to simulate pumpkins. Inspired decor and right up my alley! Thanks for not painting them orange!

ReplyDeleteYour fabulous porch certainly chimes in with my rusty junk love! Fabulous porch decor, Carlene! Love the neutrals that blend right in!
