I found this $1 wooden duck plaque at a local fundraiser rummage sale.
I thought it was perfect for a makeover.

The whole duck/cattail 3D decoration came off with one screw on the back.

I had this oval metal planter in my crafting stash. I purchased it a Hobby Lobby a couple of years back at 50% off or $4.99. (probably a Spring sale item.)
I thought the size and rustic finish of the planter paired well with the rustic wood plaque.
After sanding and cleaning the plaque, I attached the planter.
Washing down the wood with hot soapy Dawn dish soap water, and the dry sanding lightened up the dark stain.
Two screws attached the planter to the bottom wooden ledge on the plaque.
I actually think a vintage loaf pan would have worked well too.
I love these Tim Holtz Factory Tags. They add a bit of vintage flair to my projects. I have used several of these tags on other projects already.
I just nailed the Machine Works and Supply Co. tag to the top horizontal board of the plaque.

Here is the finished rustic wall pocket planter hanging on my side garage door.
There was already a sawtooth hanger on the back of the plaque when I purchased it.

Faux greenery made the wall pocket planter come alive.
Of course a real plant could be planted in the oval container too. I would probably put a plastic oval liner in the planter first to protect the metal from corrosion.
