Vintage Aluminum Wash Basin Hanging Planter
June 12, 2024
I have a new, easy project today that started with this vintage aluminum basin or dish pan. I found it at the consignment store for $6. It was dinged up perfectly for a planter!
Also today is the June Thrift Store Decor Team's monthly blog party! Be sure and scroll to the bottom to see six more fun thrifted makeovers.

Last year I had three hanging baskets that were formed from some kind of fiber. They had wire hangers and not plastic.
I carefully untwisted the wires from the planter to remove it.
Four holes were also drilled along the top lip of the basin to correspond to the wires on the old hanging basket hanger.
I love that there are three different designs on the one stencil! Great for stenciling on galvanized buckets too.
I cut the stencil apart to make sure I could center it and tape it down easily. (I normally do not cut my stencils apart but this one works best on three separate projects)
I stenciled the lettering using Fusion Mineral Paint in Ash.
*Old Sign Stencils has provided me with complimentary samples. All opinions about these fabulous stencils are my own.
Here I attached the old wire hanger on the aluminum basin by threading and re-twisting the wires in the four top holes.
I planted the basin pot with three Endurascape Pink BiColor Verbenas.
Verbenas are one of my favorite annuals. Once our weather warms up here in northern Minnesota, the plants will be loaded with blossoms.
I'm so glad that I didn't throw out my old fiber pot from last year!
Now it's time to have a peek at my blogging friends' June projects including a wicker table, welcome wreath, ice box, storage bin, old mirror, and coastal wall art!
